…and much is left undone.

for the visitors who'll come.
And that's all of the standard remake of the Clement Moore poem. I'll not bash those who can write nicely rhymed and metered verse. I'm simply not a poet.
And I know it.
(sorry. couldn't resist.)
attack of the huns.
Oh, please. It's not that bad. In fact, it's not bad at all. It's just all the details that pile up. What to cook. Getting food in the house. Clearing out the dustbunnies. Wrapping presents. Finishing buying presents. Trying to figure out who's going to be here when and if in fact they're expecting to stay here.

Yeah. Kinda feeling like that. Plus I'm trying to finish Mom's scarf -- I've got one more repeat and the final bit to do, but it's got to block -- and since that's the only vague bit of Christmas knitting I'm doing, I'd really like to get it done and ready for her. But even then, with all the busy, it's not that bad. Busy is actually a good thing this year.
Rats. I still have to put up the Festivus pole.
Oh, by the way…

Pattern: based loosely on a hat pattern that I can't find now for the life of me.
Yarn: handpainted fingering used doubled. Bought at SAFF from Creatively Dyed Yarn.
Needles: Brittany US8 dpns.
Notes: The hat is actually inside out, but that's because I liked it better that way. The garter rib cuff really does a nice job of showing off the yarn. It's a little pointier than I'd like, but she'll grow into it. HSH picked out the yarn herself, and demanded right then and there to have a hat from it.
She'd also like to show off her latest piece of work:

One of those foam kits. I whipped out the glue gun and helped her assemble it. Damn kit was missing pieces. Joseph only has one arm, and Mary doesn't have any. I fudged her hair from some Baby Ull. And the star was hastily cut from tinfoil. But it's charming and she's rightly proud of it.

Yeah, I know. I've got to finish wrapping, iron a tablecloth, and cut out some sugar cookies before the night is over. In the morning, I break to the grocery store before the rest of the great unwashed, hopefully, are out of bed. Boy am I looking forward to that.
[cue crickets]
In any case, there is a great likelihood that this shall be my last post before Christmas. Please enjoy your holiday, whether it includes family, trees, presents, and cookies or an aluminum pole and airing of grievances. Or both. I wish you all well.

You sound like me! Plotting to get to the grocery store by 8:30, get most done while waiting for fish market and deli to open, then a couple of quick stops before all traffic breaks loose!! Gah!

HSH knows how to pick a pretty yarn! The colors remind me of crayons. I think I should offer her a job as a stash consult. I can pay with sweets. We have a big bowl full of them.
